America News

WELCOME to FRIENDS OF KIDS FOR KIDS in AMERICA!

The US Friends of Kids for Kids was launched in the summer of 2007 to better enable supporters in the U.S. to raise awareness and funds for Kids for Kids, thanks to Kathy Donaldson. BETH JORDAN has now taken over our US Friends and is keen to hear from you! If you would like to learn more about how Friends in the US can help childrern in Darfur, please contact Beth at: beth.us@kidsforkids.org.uk

We are really grateful to Beth who is a volunteer - saving us costly administration so that we can devote as much as possible to helping children in remote villages in Darfur. Please ask Beth for the latest information, Home Collecting Boxes and photographs of what we are doing in Darfur. She would love to hear how you are helping raise awareness of the plight of children - our aim is to include details wherever possible on this page!

Beth is a keen and inspirational speaker whom you might like to invite to speak to your school or church or group. She will be able to show you the latest photographs of what we are doing to help children in villages in Darfur? These are exclusive photographs taken by our Chairman Patricia Parker on her frequent visits to check on our projects.

If you would like help to plan an event or lead an effort for Kids for Kids in your community - you might like to see the KIDS FOR KIDS FILM - HOPE IN A TIME OF CONFLICT - which shows rare footage of village life, beyond the camps? The film lasts 20 minutes (there is also a 3 min version).

Please email Beth on: beth.US@kidsforkids.org.uk

U.S. taxpayers can now make tax-deductible donations to the Friends of Kids for Kids Fund at CAF America using the form on the U.S. Gift List.

The US Gift List is a perfect way to give a present - and save a life!

We will be happy to send a Gift Certificate anywhere in the world!

CELEBRATE THANKSGIVING & CHRISTMAS AND BRING LASTING CHANGE TO A CHILD!

Can you give a Donkey to celebrate your special day? There is no transport in Darfur - no roads - no electricity in the villages. Nights are dark and long. Children sleep without beds or blankets. A goat means a child has milk to drink. If a child is sick there is no transport - without a donkey.

Please look at the Gift List or read here to see how villagers say these simple things save their children's lives.

We need your help please!

WOULD YOU LIKE TO VOLUNTEER TO HELP US PLEASE? We do not advertise and rely on our friends spreading the word - so that every dollar possible can go to buy goats and donkeys! - please let us know if you can help in your area!

PLANNING AN EVENT?

If you are planning an awareness raising debate or presentation on Darfur and would like to hear about LIFE BEYOND THE CAMPS please ask Beth if there is a speaker available in your area. We now have volunteers who would be happy to come and show unique pictures and footage of what life is like for families who are living out of sight of the world's media in Darfur in the villages - images never seen outside Sudan.. Chairman, Patricia Parker and Trustee Alastair King-Smith, visit Darfur regularly and their photographs and video footage gives a detailed and informed view.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK 2009

Owen (6) lead the way in the September 2009 Walk for Water to Prospect Park. he and his 6 year old friends at THE BERKELEY CAROL SCHOOL collected water on their walk and carried it back . Patricia Parker, Chairman Kids for Kids, told them how children in Darfur are walking up to 7 hours to reach water and to carry it back to their families. The Brooklyn Walk for Water has already raised over $1200 dollars.

If 6 years told can make such a difference - what can you do?

HOW ONE AMERICAN WOMAN WITH A BIG HEART LAUNCHED OUR BLANKET APPEAL!

AMIRA WILL NOW HAVE A BLANKET TO CURL UP UNDER thanks to Debbie ...............

It is bitterly cold at night in the desert, especially during the winter months in Darfur, yet many families have no blankets, or bedding of any kind.

When DEBBIE JURAN, of RBC WEALTH MANAGEMENT, heard this, she immediately made a donation that has enabled KIDS FOR KIDS to give 2 blankets and a mosquito nets to over 300 families - but Debbie is calling for more blankets for Amira and her small friends. "When children don't have enough food to eat they get chest infections very easily. I could not bear to think of a child like Amira going to sleep at night in just her little dress - with nothing to keep her warm. I had to do something."

Please can you give 2 blankets & a mosquito net - just $63 - not much when you realise what this means to Amira - and her mother.
