The route is a flattish\, cinder-based all-weather circuit\, suitable for all ages\, and easily negotiated with push-chairs and mobility scooters. \nJoin Charlotte\, Davina and friends for this lovely walk – a great chance to get some steps in\, enjoy the countryside and perhaps do a bit of bird-spotting too. April 28th will be just under one year on from King Charles’ Coronation\, so there will be some Royal connections to pass\, as well as other interesting beauty spots! \nFancy dress outfits are actively encouraged too! \n \nJoin us on 28th April 2024\nWhen? We will meet at 10:00am for a 10:30am start on 28th April 2024 \nWhere? We will check in at the ‘base camp’ on the Old Cricket Pitch at North Holmwood\, accessed from the National Trust Car Park on the corner of Inholms Lane\, or by walking along the path from St John’s Church.  The closest satnav is RH5 4JH.  It will be well signposted. \nEn route? There will be a waystation at ‘The Viewpoint’ where we can relax\, enjoy the view and sample the drinks and cake on offer – yum! There will be a further checkpoint at ‘the Twin Ponds’\, the most southerly point of the walk\, about half-way\, also offering refreshments. \nWhere do we finish? We will finish at this same point to confirm we have safely completed the route. \nHow do I sign up?\nWe’re asking for a minimum donation of just £10 entry per adult walker and would love you to raise a minimum of £50 sponsorship if possible. \nChildren  under 16 are more than welcome to join too and will be free! \nBook your spot here for £10 (min. donation). \nHow can I raise sponsorship?\nWe recommend setting up an online sponsorship page with JustGiving. \nClick on the link and then ‘Start Fundraising’ to set up your own JustGiving page for sponsorship – RotaWalk’24 4 Mile Fundraising Walk – in Fancy Dress! – JustGiving \nShare your sponsorship page with friends and family so we can get stepping in the right direction to raise as many funds as we can this year! \nLook at the Fun we had in 2021 – Come and Join us!\nFind out about the fun and games we had on the RotaWalk’21 here and book your place to join us on 28th April 2024 ! \nWe cannot wait to Step with you for Sudan! \n  \n

SUMMARY:Arctic Wilderness Challenge\, 22-26 January 2021
DESCRIPTION:A once in a lifetime adventure through the pristine landscape of Swedish Lapland in the Arctic Circle! \nGet set for an action-packed charity challenge in what is often described as ‘Europe’s Last Wilderness’.  This Arctic Wilderness charity challenge will be a real test of your endurance\, where you are in charge of food\, digs and feeding your dogs. The challenge is basic with self-sufficient lodgings\, unpredictable weather conditions as well as looking after your team of dogs! \nIt is a mix of survival techniques and learning how to live like the Saami people. Meet your companions and the Classic Challenge Tour Manager and UK Doctor that will accompany you throughout the trip in London before flying to Kiruna\, the northernmost town in Sweden in the province of Lapland.  You will travel by dog sled to different beautiful locations\, and have a chance of seeing reindeer along the way. \nThe route includes a mixture of trails from tundra lowlands to high mountain areas and dense forests and frozen lakes. The first day you will travel 30-35km by dog sled\, the second day a circular route of 40-45km past glacial lakes and open swamp areas\, and 40-45km on the third day through snow covered mountains.  Each night will be spent in wilderness base camps – and keep your eyes peeled for the famous Northern Lights!  View the full itinerary here. \n \n  \nThis is a fantastic chance to help children in Darfur\, whilst taking on a totally different and extremely challenging excursion – making new friends as you face the cold weather together.  Sign up solo or as a group.  Group sizes range from 8-15 people\, so sign up soon to get your spot! \nThe Registration Fee for this challenge is £299 and minimum sponsorship is £2500 for Kids for Kids. This may seem like a lot but includes: Flights to/ from Sweden\, accommodation (camps\, huts & lodges)\, transfers\, full medical support\, experienced guides and dog sledding team\, specialist kit (leather mitts\, Arctic all-in-one and Arctic boots)\, water and meals. \nAdditionally\, we would be more than happy to help you come up with fundraising ideas\, send you collection tins\, stickers\, and other Kids for Kids promotional materials that will make this goal much easier to accomplish! Our supporters often hold events as a way of raising funds instead of relying solely on sponsorship from family and friends.  Why not hold a pub quiz night\, silent disco\, or bake sale?!  Please get in touch at contact@kidsforkids.org.uk with any questions. \nTo learn more about this challenge and see the full itinerary visit Classic Challenge’s Website! \n  \n“I really want to thank Classic Challenge for all the help and organisation that you did for my participation in the 2017 Arctic Dog Sledding Challenge. The challenge went ahead and it turned out to be the most amazing five days!”

SUMMARY:Fishing for Goats! Executive Fly Fishing Day 2020
DESCRIPTION:Executive Fly Fishing Day – Saturday 10th October 2020. Park Lake\, Surrey GU5 9JA \nAt last – we can meet again!   Come and enjoy this wonderful day as a treat after being in isolation for so long! This year’s annual Kids for Kids’ Executive Fly Fishing Day will take place at Park Lake\, Albury on 10th October. Book now as I am sure it will sell out quickly!  Who wouldn’t want to go fishing this year! \nWe really are fishing for goats (well\, not literally!)  – goats that will give their valuable milk for children who are hungry in Darfur!  We need as many as we can get.  The need is huge.  Do join us\, it’s a real treat.  Park Lake is utterly beautiful\, and ours for the day.   The secluded lake will be stocked with rainbow trout and if you have never tasted trout straight from the water to your plate than you have no idea how delicious it is.   Of course\, you will have to catch it first! \n  \nPlaces for the Full Day and Half-day (AM or PM) sessions are now available to Book Online or by completing our Order Form.  Tickets are limited to ensure everyone has enough space on the banks to really enjoy fishing as it should be enjoyed – so do book early!  Enjoy an exclusive day of fly fishing on the Duke of Northumberland’s private lake in Surrey.  A special day for experienced fishermen and total beginners alike!  Tuition by qualified trainers (if needed) for beginners along with all tackle will be provided.  Delicious refreshments as listed below will provided throughout the day. \n  \nTicket Options: \nFull Day tickets  (9.30am to dusk) @ £120 each (min. donation)  to include breakfast\, morning coffee & home made cakes\,  lunch with wine and beer\, and finally afternoon tea (more home made cakes!).  All drinks available throughout. \nAM session only  (9.30 am to 12:30pm\, including lunch) @ £75 each (min. donation) to include breakfast\, morning coffee & home made cakes and lunch with wine and beer.  All drinks available throughout. \nPM session only  (12.30 pm lunch ’til dusk) @ £75 each (min. donation) to include lunch with wine and beer\, afternoon tea with home made cakes.  All drinks available throughout. \n“I hesitate to ask\, but if you would like to add something extra as an additional donation it would really help.  Without our events earlier this year – especially the Ambassadors’ Ball – our donations have fallen just when we are needed most\, but I know life has not been easy for anyone this year.”  Patricia Parker MBE Founder. \nN.B. Children (minimum age 10)  need to be accompanied by a fully paying adult.   Because of the limit of space on the banks children also have to be full price.  Sunglasses or glasses\, and hats ideally with a peek\, must be worn by everyone. \nHealth and safety is our first concern but you are advised that you fish at your own risk.\n \n  \n\nCheck out our 2019 Fly Fishing Event in the press to get excited for this year: \n\n\n\n\n\n\nOnline coverage\n\n\nBrit Events\nEagle Radio\nEventBrite\nFamilies Surrey West\nGumtree\n\n\nSurrey Live\nThe Best Of\nWhere Can We Go \nSurrey Live Video\nSurrey Live Gallery\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCoverage in Print\n\n\nSurrey Life Magazine\nDiplomat Magazine\n Life Magazine – Surrey and Berkshire Editions\n\n\n\n  \nCancellation Policy: Please note we cannot give refunds for event tickets unless the event is cancelled by us. \nCover photograph by Darren Pepe\, Surrey Life.

SUMMARY:Friends' Event 2018 - Foreign Office Special Representative to Sudan visits us
DESCRIPTION:Friends of Kids for Kids are invited to hear the latest news from Darfur from our Founder Patricia Parker MBE\, with the opportunity for questions afterwards\, at a Friends’ Event being held in Patricia’s home in Dorking on Saturday 11th August – Kids for Kids Friends Event Invitation. \nGuest of Honour will be Chris Trott\, the Foreign Office Special Representative for Sudan and South Sudan\, who has kindly agreed to bring us up to date with Government policy and the latest news from the region. \nOur Friends’ Event is a special occasion to hear exactly how we manage to work in one of the most inaccessible and deprived regions in the world\, and to ask as many questions as you would like.    Patricia says “In fact I have never heard of another charity being so open about all it does.   I am passionate about our supporters – and indeed anyone thinking of supporting us – knowing as much as possible about how we spend their donations.” \nWe hope you can join us for this special event to hear about our projects in Darfur and how we are changing children’s lives long term.   Our wonderful volunteers from our Surrey Group will be providing supper and as some people come from quite a distance do please come as near to 6.30p.m. as you can.   There will also be an opportunity this year to see (and perhaps buy) works of art by Patricia Parker and Robin Radclyffe which are in the Art Exhibition which is being held over the same weekend – please take a look at details for the weekend events here. \nPlease email patricia@kidsforkids.org.uk or call 07957206440 to confirm your free place.  Donations will of course be welcome\, but are not obligatory!   This is an event for you.

SUMMARY:Do you have an hour to spare?
DESCRIPTION:Please can you help us on Friday 22nd June by sparing some time for our annual street collection in Dorking? \nEvery year\, the local community is hugely supportive of Kids for Kids but we need help – just one hour of your time would make such a difference!  Every hour donated\, every penny raised\, provides much needed funds for Darfur and will help us give children goat’s milk so that lack of protein does not damage their health irrevocably. \nAll you need is enthusiasm and a big smile.  Volunteering slots are available all day\, so any time that suits you would suit us.  Why not bring a friend or family member to make a fun day of it?  The more the merrier – and the more raised for Kids for Kids! \nSign up now – contact our our Surrey Committee by email or calling 07921135463. \nIf you have fun and want to do it again\, or if you can’t get to Dorking on 22nd June\, why not organise another collection?  Please get in touch. \nThank you.
