Empower Women in Darfur Now!

We have been chosen to be part of the Girl Fund Campaign with Global Giving. From now until Thursday 15th March you can help us make a real, and lasting, difference to women’s lives. If we get enough support we could be selected for one of six spots in the Girl Fund, securing project funding for the rest of 2018!   Just think what that would mean in Darfur – but we only have these two weeks to do it.  In order to do be chosen, we have to get the most donors to our Project titled ‘Empowering Women to Earn an Income- Darfur, Sudan’ on Global Giving’s website here. It is 100% up to YOU to help us secure funding! A donation as small as £10/$10 will make a huge difference.  It is not the amount we raise, it is the number of different people who donate- so please will you ask your friends to join us? We need you to ‘Vote with your Donation’. Please make a donation of any size, and then send this link far and wide Read more…

Pope Francis Blesses the Children of Darfur

His Holiness Pope Francis blessed the children of Darfur while meeting Patricia Parker MBE, Founder of Kids for Kids, and Alastair King-Smith, Trustee, at the Vatican recently. Patricia was accompanying Alastair on a visit to Rome for an inter-faith conference whose participants were honoured with an Audience. Patricia asked the Pope to pray for the children of Darfur who are facing the prospect of famine this year following the failure of the harvest.  She told Pope Francis that families in remote villages rely solely on what they can grow. Few can afford even a few animals to enable them to diversify and feed their children. His Holiness said a private prayer with Alastair and Patricia and gave a Blessing. He added “And please pray for me.  I need it too.” Patricia said, “It was an overwhelming privilege to be in the presence of His Holiness.  When he held my hands and said a prayer for the children in Darfur, I felt hope for the first time this year. At Kids for Kids we are doing all we can to help, Read more…

City of London School Welcomes Back Kids for Kids

We were delighted to be invited to City of London School to tell the students how the money they had worked so hard to raise had actually been spent. Patricia Parker MBE, Founder and CEO of Kids for Kids, was welcomed back and spoke to both the Junior and Senior Schools. “For me it is even more important for children and young people to know exactly what charities do with their funds because if they are convinced they are making a real and tangible difference, then they will go on throughout their lives knowing they can help others. I don’t understand why other charities are so unclear about what they are doing on the ground. If there are problems, we should say so.” City of London School adopted Kids for Kids as their Charity of the year in 2013-14 and raised an incredible £86,862.88. Patricia says, “They were phenomenal. I have never had a school raise that much for us – it was astonishing! Because we do all we can to minimise administration we were able to transform literally hundreds of Read more…

Ken Howard Art Auction success!

‘Ken Howard and Friends – The Auction’ was held last Thursday, the 26th of October at the John Bly Gallery and was an incredible success. We are delighted to announce that a grand total of paintings sold has reached over £25,000! “I cannot thank Ken Howard enough for inviting so many of our top artists to join together to help raise funds for children in Darfur. With the funds received by Kids for Kids we will be able to provide 225 goats, sufficient for 37 families – saving over 220 children from malnutrition. In two years time, kids from those goats will help even more children as goats are rotated to new families. Mothers cannot afford protein in any form and goats’ milk will transform their lives long term.” The Auction was held at the John Bly Gallery on the Kings Road, enabling the paintings to be displayed beside antique furniture and lit by chandeliers, turning it into an unique Exhibition of works by exceptional artists. Many of the artists joined Ken Howard and John, Virginia and James Bly, at the Read more…
