Sudan is the world’s most forgotten humanitarian crisis. The war has already killed tens of thousands of people and has also created the world’s largest displacement and hunger crises. More than 10 million people have been forced from their homes and displaced within Sudan, and another 2 million have fled to neighbouring countries, according to the UN. Half of those who remain face crisis levels of hunger. Famine was declared in parts of Darfur in August – yet the world remains silent.
I am proud to tell you that we have found a way to get assistance to the most remote villages in Darfur but there are so many more families that desperately need our help. We are the only organisation helping these children.
Our Pilot Project to deliver emergency seed – for food and planting to the first six of our villages was 100% successful. And we have now delivered aid to another nine villages. Our new initiative, ‘Kids Kitchen Kits’ are giving families with children aged 5 and under fresh produce – lentils, beans, cooking oil – to provide vital protein, minerals and vitamins which have been dangerously lacking in children’s diets all year.
Please read my full update to find out about how you can help us bring hope to the children of Darfur and reach more families facing starvation.
Wishing you a happy Autumn,
