Welcome to our Newest Patron Lyse Doucet CM OBE

Kids for Kids is delighted to announce that Lyse Doucet CM OBE, the BBC’s Chief International Correspondent, has become the charity’s newest Patron.

Lyse is one of the world’s most respected journalists, with a distinguished career spanning more than four decades. As Chief International Correspondent for the BBC, she has reported from some of the most challenging regions in the world bringing global attention to the realities faced by communities affected by conflict, poverty and crisis.

Born in Canada, Lyse joined the BBC after early reporting in West Africa and went on to serve as a foreign correspondent across the Middle East and Asia, with postings in Islamabad, Tehran, Kabul, Amman and Jerusalem. Her thoughtful and courageous journalism has helped audiences understand complex global issues and the human stories behind them.

In recognition of her contribution to journalism, Lyse was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2014 and became a Member of the Order of Canada (CM) in 2018. She has also received numerous international awards for her reporting and commitment to telling the stories that often go unheard.

Lyse has supported Kids for Kids since she was a reader at the Candlelit Concert in 2024, and accepted the position of Patron on the day of the charity’s 25th Birthday Reception at Speakers House on Thursday 5th March 2026. Her support for Kids for Kids will help shine a light on the challenges faced by families in Darfur due to the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

Patricia Parker OBE, Founder of Kids for Kids, said:

“We are honoured to welcome Lyse Doucet as a Patron of Kids for Kids. Through her remarkable career she has helped the world understand the realities faced by vulnerable communities. Her compassion, integrity and commitment to telling human stories reflect the very values at the heart of our work. We hope that with Lyse by our side we will reach more children suffering from the continued violence in Darfur.”

Lyse’s patronage comes at an exciting time for Kids for Kids as the charity celebrates 25 years of supporting families in Darfur. With the help of generous supporters, Kids for Kids continues to provide emergency aid and sustainable, community-led solutions that transform the lives of children in the forgotten region of Darfur.

We are proud to welcome Lyse Doucet to the Kids for Kids family.
