Sudan has been plunged into a humanitarian crisis.
Since fighting broke out in April 2023, which has turned into genocide in Darfur, more people have been displaced in Sudan than in the rest of the world combined, according to the United Nations. The UN describes the situation in Darfur as the ‘worst, most cruel humanitarian catastrophe in the world today’.
For families struggling to survive in remote villages in Darfur, the Goats you have helped us provide are more than just livestock; they are a lifeline to thousands of families trapped in inexcusable violence.
If families are able to find food in these heart-breaking conditions, they are living off one scant unpalatable meal a day – assida, a tasteless mix of sorghum and water. There is no protein. Children are left malnourished with bloated stomachs and stunted development.
But our Goats really have been saving their lives.
Our Goats have been providing milk to starving children and giving them the protein they desperately need to survive.
BUT now these Goats need our help to survive too.
Sadly, with the ongoing fighting, veterinary care has collapsed. Goats are dying at a rapid rate due to untreated infections.
Urgent funding is needed to supply veterinary drugs to our Kids for Kids’ trained Paravets in the 110 adopted villages in North Darfur so they can save the lives of our Goats.
“The situation is extremely concerning,” states Patricia Parker OBE, Founder of Kids for Kids. “I am getting daily reports of an increase in goat deaths due to infections, and our ability to treat these animals is severely limited due to the conflict. There are no vets outside the main towns, and even those are rare. Our paravets are crucial for animals – and the health of the animals is closely linked to the health of the children. We need your help now more than ever.”
Please will you donate to our Emergency Fund today so we can provide the necessary veterinary drugs to treat our Goats?
We desperately need your help to save the lives of these life-saving heroes.
